Simplifying The Gateway to FPV
There are many different ways to describe this type of product, but they all mean the same thing: a fully built drone that is almost complete, and in minutes can be ready to go right out of the box!
No more soldering, no more waiting for different components, no more extended build time. Imagine a fully built quad, its components tuned and tested by professional pilots, and ready to go in just minutes. Simply add your own SBUS, PPM or Spectrum Satellite receiver and radio gear, program it to the pre-loaded and latest version of Cleanflight (or install Betaflight), charge a 3 or 4s LiPo, fit the props and you're off!
Tough & Well Thought Out Design
The sandwich design airframes skirt and skid protection is made from an Injection moulded heavy duty composite plastic with CF plates top and bottom, so It’s much stronger than Carbon Fibre alone or the usual 3D printed parts found on many hobby grade drones. Additionally, there’s an Impact resistant motor housing, protecting the motors from the inevitable high speed crash or impact on landing. This also means that its very learner/newbie friendly. The only consumable items you may need are going to be props, LiPo’s and patience as you master FPV flying!
It’s got a 32 bit F3 Flight Controller for super-fast processing and loop times, giving you exceptional response time and ultimate ‘user to drone’ control. It’s been designed with an Independent anti-vibration mount, isolating the most important component, the Flight Controller from any mechanical vibrations in flight, meaning smooth and fluid flight dynamics with minimal, if not no PID tuning required.
Fully Adjustable 5.8GHz VTX
It’s 5.8GHz 25 to 600mw adjustable Multi-band VTX allows it to be run legally in any territory in the world. Set it to 25mw to be CE/UK legal or if in a territory legally allowed to, set it all the way to 600mw to get extra video range and power to get clear signal when flying required more range or around (and through) indoor environments such as concrete structures…
As for the rest of the electronics…the four built in ESCs (Electronic Speed Controllers) are easily replaced in the event of a burn out, or in the future you can install any ESC of your choice to keep up with the latest chipsets and programming and the technology evolves further. The included FPV camera is a 700TVL PAL/NTSC unit giving you an impressive resolution in your choice of FPV goggles, headset or ground station screen.
Unboxing (Well, Unzipping!)
The Shuriken 180 comes in a neat zip up carry case. Myself and Phil Lawrence from www.makeitbuildit.co.uk had it fitted with a FSky receiver (and for those with eagle eyes, yes we put it on the outside of the case for the initial testing so we didn’t have to take the whole airframe apart to conceal it inside). Within minutes we had set up all the correct switches on the Taranis in Cleanflight and set both the failsafe, and the motor arm and disarm.
180mm, so made for 4 inch props
240g total weight (without LiPo)
Part 2 is imminent, with setup, flight test and feedback…#AreYouReady?
